Intel has released a new high-performance Xeon D-2100 processor. It can be used in systems of cloud infrastructure, content delivery, corporate storage systems.
The novelty is a complex system-on-chip, which can contain up to 18 processing cores. In this case, the chips have a TDP of 65 W to 110 W of energy. Depending on the model, the base frequency can be from 1.6 GHz to 2.3 GHz, and in Turbo Boost mode the maximum frequency can reach 3 GHz. The Intel Xeon D-2100 processor is based on the Skylake server architecture, it contains 1 MB of L2 cache and 1.375 MB of L3 cache for each core. It supports the ability to use DDR4 memory and up to four Ethernet ports with a data rate of 10 Gbit / s. Also supported is the extended instruction package AVX-512. However, the manufacturer promises to offer updates to the system software to protect customers from the vulnerabilities Specter and Meltdown.
The price of the Intel Xeon D-2100 processor, depending on the number of used cores, can be from $ 213 to $ 2407.
