Intel announced processors Pentium Silver and Celeron on the architecture of Gemini Lake

Intel company has prepared for release new processors within the lines of Pentium Silver and Celeron, which are based on the architecture of Gemini Lake. According to the manufacturer, Pentium Silver chips will provide a 58% increase in performance compared to comparable computers of 4 years old.

It is noted that the announced Pentium Silver processors based on the Gemini Lake architecture represent the optimal solutions in terms of costs and provide sufficient performance for typical office and basic entertainment tasks. At the same time, chips of the Intel Pentium Gold series based on the Kaby Lake architecture, which are already on the market, offer the best performance in the Pentium family.

Systems with new Intel Pentium Silver and Celeron processors will receive support Gigabit Wi-Fi based on the standard 2 × 2 802.11AC and display technology Local Adaptive Contrast Enhancement (LACE). With Gigabit Wi-Fi users can quickly download content and use streaming services. At the same time, LACE will provide an opportunity to display excellent visual information even when viewing video on the street in bright daylight conditions. All the announced novelties are manufactured according to the norms of the 14-nanometer technological process. They support the ability to connect up to 8 GB of RAM in a dual-channel configuration and up to 8 GB of video memory.

Originally, two processor models were announced within the Intel Pentium Silver line: the N5000 for the mobile segment and the J5005 for desktop systems. The Intel Pentium Silver N5000 processor contains 4 processing cores and supports 4 instruction flows. The base operating frequency is 1.1 GHz, the increased frequency is 2.7 GHz. The cache size is 4 MB. The integrated graphics core Intel UHD Graphics 605 operates at a frequency from 200 MHz to 750 MHz. The TDP chip is declared at 6 watts. The Pentium Silver J5005 model also contains 4 computational cores, supports 4 instruction flows and carries 4 MB of cache on board. But in this case the base frequency is 1.5 GHz, the increased frequency is 2.8 GHz, and the TDP is 10 W.

The Intel Celeron chipset based on the Gemini Lake architecture is represented by four new models. For mobile devices devices N4000 and N4100 are intended. The N4000 version contains 2 computational cores, Intel UHD Graphics 600 GPU, 4 MB cache and supports 2 instruction flows. The frequency formula is 1.1 / 2.6 GHz, the TDP is 6 watts. At the same time, the Celeron N4100 version carries 4 processing cores, 4 MB cache and supports 4 instruction flows. In this case, the frequencies are set at 1.1 GHz and 2.4 GHz. The desktop segment offers Intel Celeron J4005 and J4105 processors. The junior version of the J4005 contains 2 cores, supports 2 instruction flows, operates at a nominal frequency of 2.0 GHz and supports dynamic overclocking to 2.7 GHz. The J4105 model differs in the number of cores and supported instruction flows (by 4), as well as with the frequency formula (1.5 / 2.5 GHz). Both chips contain 4 MB of cache and have a TDP of 10 W.

As Intel notes, ready-made computer systems based on new Pentium Silver and Celeron processors from major OEMs will go on sale in the first quarter of 2018. Such chips will be used to manufacture affordable laptops, hybrid devices, monoblock computers, mini-PCs and desktop computers. Such systems will allow you to cope with typical tasks at home, at school and during travel.
