"From Deadpool to Pokemon": Ryan Reynolds will play Pikachu in the upcoming film "Detective Pikachu" / Detective Pikachu

Last summer, we learned about the upcoming feature film about Pokémon Pokachu / Detective Pikachu, based on the same name video game, which was released in Japan in 2016. Now the authoritative edition of The Hollywood Reporter, referring to its own sources, writes that the main role in the tape – the Pokachu Pokachu – will be performed by Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, known to most as the hero of the comic book Marvel Deadpool.

For the sake of justice we note that the character himself will be Pikachu It was created using three-dimensional computer graphics. That is, we will not see Reynolds' faces, the actor will simply perform all the movements for the character.

Justin Smith ("Jurassic World 2") and Catherine Newton ("Big little lie") will be photographed along with the "Deadpool" star. The script "Detective Pikachu" will be written by Alex Hirsch ("Gravity Falls"), and directed by Rob Letterman ("Monsters vs. Aliens").

Shooting pictures begin in London in mid-January 2018.
