Since January 1, 2018 in Ukraine, the zero duty for the import of electric vehicles from the EU

The Ministry of Economic Development has published a table regulating the level of rates of import duty of Ukraine, that is the amount of customs payments for cars. The new rules will be applied in 2018 to the import of goods from the European Union under the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Recall, the Agreement entered into force in full on September 1, 2017, then the trading part is valid from January 1, 2016.

For cars, the agreement provides for a transition period of seven years. During this time, the import duty rates will gradually drop to zero.

As for the size of rates for new cars originating from the EU countries for the next year, then depending on the type of car and engine capacity they are the following:

Petrol:

With a working volume of not more than 1000 cm 3 – 6.3% of customs value.

With a working volume of more than 1000 cm 3 but not more than 1500 3 – 7.3% of customs value.

With a working volume of more than 1500 cm 3 but not more than 2,200 cm 3 – 5% from customs value.

With a working volume of more than 2200 cm 3 but not more than 3000 cm 3 – 5% of customs value.

With a working volume of more than 3000 cm ] 3 – 5% of the customs value.

Diesel:

With a cylinder capacity of not more than 1500 cm 3 – 7.3% of customs value 19659003] With a working volume of more than 1500 cm 3 but not more than 2500 cm 3 – 7.3% of customs value.

With a cylinder displacement of more than 2500 cm 3 – 6.3% of customs value.

Electr Vehicles: equipped with exclusively electric motors (one or more) – 0% of customs value.

For new cars from other countries, a higher duty (usually 10%) applies to the customs value of the car.

Also note that in addition to the duty with proper customs clearance of a car, it is necessary to pay excise (depends on the engine's volume) and VAT (20%).
