According to official data The US Department of Energy (US Department of Energy), the average (median) power reserve of electric vehicles in this country has increased by one and a half times in the last six years. If in 2011 a typical electric car in the US could travel just 117 km (73 miles) from the full charge of batteries, then in 2017 this parameter rose to 183 km (114 miles).
We note in particular that this is a median averaging of the values power reserve for all electric vehicles that can be purchased in the US. As can be seen from the schedule, in 2011 in this country it was possible to buy electric vehicles with power reserve from 101 km to 151 km (63 – 94 miles), and as early as 2017 the range of electric mileage available to the US buyer stretched from 93 km to 539 km 58 – 335 miles). Thus, if you compare the maximum power reserve, the increase will be much more impressive 3.5 times.
The US Department of Energy specifically noted that in 2011 it was possible to buy only three different model of electric vehicles, whereas in 2017 their number increased to at least 15 models. At the moment, a minimum power reserve of 93 km is provided by the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive Coupe, while the maximum figure of 539 km belongs to the Tesla Model S 100D electric car.
Note that according to experts, taking into account new models already announced, but still not available in the US, the median power reserve of electric vehicles by the end of next year can reach a value of 320 km (200 miles).
